Change window

A change window is a set period when planned edits to live ad accounts, budgets, tracking or landing pages are allowed. Outside it, changes wait for a named approver or for the next window, so every edit happens when someone is ready to check the result.

Definition

A change window is a set period when planned edits to live ad accounts, budgets, tracking or landing pages are allowed. Outside it, changes wait for a named approver or for the next window, so every edit happens when someone is ready to check the result.

Example with made-up numbers. Made-up scenario: a client agrees on a window of Monday to Thursday, 09:00 to 16:00 in the store's time zone. A budget increase planned for Friday waits until Monday. A broken checkout tag found on Saturday is fixed as an emergency change, and the account manager's approval is logged the same hour.

How to use it

A change window names the days and hours when the team may make planned edits, such as budget moves, new campaigns or tracking fixes. The window is agreed with the client, written in the account notes, and set in the store's time zone so that everyone uses the same clock. Anyone who works on the account should be able to find it without asking.

Windows matter most when a change needs time to show in the numbers. A change made late on a Friday leaves no working day to read the result before the weekend. Keep emergency fixes separate from planned changes, and log each one with the reason, the approver and the time it was made.
