Example presets use made-up numbers.

How it is calculated

Expected spend to date = budget x days elapsed / days in month. Pacing = spent / expected spend to date. Projected month-end = spent / days elapsed x days in month. Daily amount left = (budget - spent) / days remaining.

Example with made-up numbers: a 12,000 budget with 5,400 spent after 14 of 30 days has expected spend of 5,600, pacing of about 96%, a projection of about 11,570 and about 412 a day left.

How to read the result

  • Pacing near 100% means spend is on a straight line.
  • A projection well above the budget means a cut is needed before the end of the month.
  • Some platforms spend unevenly and may catch up late in the month, so check delivery before changing budgets.

Before changing a budget

Questions about this tool

Is even daily spend the right target?

Not always. Seasonality and platform delivery can make uneven spend correct. The straight line is a reference, not a rule.

Why does the projection differ from the budget?

The projection assumes today's average daily rate continues. If spend was uneven so far, the real month-end may differ.
