A weekly creative fatigue check

A ten minute check each week costs less than finding out about a worn out ad after a bad month.

Each week, for every ad with real spend

  • Frequency: is it rising while reach stays flat?
  • Hook rate: are fewer people staying past the opening?
  • Cost per result: higher than last week for the same audience and budget?
  • Comments: any new complaints or confusion about the offer?

Decide

  • Two or more signals moving the wrong way: mark the ad as tired and prepare a replacement.
  • One signal only: note it and look again next week.

Before you pause anything

  • Have the replacement approved and ready, so spend is not left without a candidate.
  • Change one thing at a time, such as the hook, and record it against a creative ID.
The guide to creative fatigue signals explains how to set thresholds for each client.
