An ad launch checklist template for ecommerce campaigns

A campaign can go live with a broken link or a wrong name, and nobody notices until the report looks odd. A short checklist catches that before the first click.

Before the campaign goes live

  • Offer: the price, stock status and shipping terms on the live page match the ad.
  • Landing page: it loads on a phone and a desktop, and the offer is visible without scrolling.
  • Tracking: every conversion event fires on a test order, as listed in the tracking QA checklist.
  • Links and names: UTM tags on every destination link, built with the UTM builder, and names that follow the standard, checked with the ad naming generator.
  • Approval: the approval is written down with its date and approver before the launch.
  • Budget and schedule: the daily budget, the end date and the bid setting match the approved brief.

At launch and on the first day

  • Note the launch time and who pressed publish in the change log.
  • Read back the live settings against the approved brief, field by field.
  • Check that spend follows the planned pacing and that the platform has accepted every ad.
  • Compare store orders with platform purchases for the same hours, and note any gap.
  • Write the day-one result in the log, with 'not measured' where the data is still missing.
Made-up scenario: a made-up store launches a summer campaign at 10:00 on a Monday. The read-back finds the end date set to the wrong year. The fix is approved and logged. The day-one check finds a gap between store and platform orders, and the note says which part is known and which part is only suspected.
