A client offboarding checklist for agencies

A clean exit protects both sides. It also leaves the door open for the client to return.

Removing access

  • List every account and tool the agency can reach for this client, and remove access in an agreed order.
  • Remove connections, API keys and shared logins, and tell the client what was removed.

Handover

  • Give the client the creative files, the naming convention, the definitions sheet and the change log.
  • Export the history of reports so the next team can see the past.

Final report

  • A last report with the headline numbers, open risks and what was in progress.
  • Say plainly what the next team should look at first.

What the agency keeps

  • Only what the contract allows, and delete the rest by an agreed date.
  • Keep a record that access was removed and when.

Handing over a client account to a new account manager

A process for requesting access to client ad accounts

Running the renewal conversation with an ecommerce client

A renewal is mostly decided in the months before it. The conversation confirms what the client has already seen in the reports, or shows where it has not.
