What the outgoing person writes

  • Client facts: store, markets, product groups and the break-even lines in use.
  • Open work: tests running, changes waiting for approval and the next review date.
  • Promises made, with the date each one was made.
  • Decisions pending: what is open, who decides and by when.
  • Contacts: who signs off, who makes store changes and who owns the data.

What the new person checks

  • Who can change each account, confirmed by the client in writing.
  • The change log for the last 30 days, read and understood.
  • The definitions sheet, including what MER and CAC mean for this client.
Made-up scenario: a client moves to a new account manager on 1 March. The handover note lists a spring offer decision due 12 March. The new person finds one budget change that was approved but never logged, and logs it with the approval note.

After the handover

  • The outgoing person answers questions in writing for 30 days.
  • The new person runs the next weekly review alone and sends the update.
