Definition

Naming QA is a check that every campaign, ad set, ad and asset name follows the agreed naming convention before it goes live. It catches typos, missing fields and wrong codes early, so reports and tracking can match records without manual fixing.

Example with made-up numbers. Made-up scenario: the convention is brand, market, channel, year and month as YYMM, then a three-digit creative ID. A new ad is named Brand-DE-meta-2603-cr12. The check flags the creative ID, which has two digits, so the team renames it to cr012 before launch.

How to use it

The check compares each new name with the convention: the order of the fields, the allowed values, the separators and the length. It also checks that the codes in a name match the codes in the tracking parameters and the asset library. A name that looks right but points to another campaign is harder to find than an obvious error, so the codes matter as much as the layout. Run the check on the names as they will go live, not on a draft list.

A naming check works best as a short checklist with a yes or no for each rule. Record the result and the person who checked it. Fix a failed name before launch rather than in a report later, because a later rename can make past results harder to match to the right item.
