A change log template for ad accounts

When results move, the first question is what changed. A change log answers it in seconds.

The columns

  • Date and time, in the client's time zone.
  • Client and account.
  • Object: the campaign, ad set or ad, with its identifier.
  • Change: from what to what, such as 'daily budget 50 to 80'.
  • Reason: one sentence, and the number we expect to move.
  • Proposed by, and approved by.
  • Read-back: matched, different or not checked.

Rules

  • Log before and after, not only after.
  • One row per change, so each can be reviewed and reversed.
  • Link rows from the report when a change explains a movement.

Use it

  • In the weekly review, scan the last seven days of rows first.
  • When a number moves, read the log before the dashboard.
